I saw a Sega Mega Drive emulator CD-ROM at a open market, I was a bit dubious about buying it, as it looked a bit knock off, but I decided to take a chance because it was only £3. I ran the CD as soon as I got home, and I was extremely impressed, it has two emulators the genecyst and the Kgen. The CD features over 150 classic Sega games including Sonic the Hedgehog, Fantasy Island Dizzy and Golden Axe, my favourite game on the CD is Columns. I have recently discovered that the games I used to play as a kid are still a lot more fun than any of the new games I have paid a fortune for recently. Old style sega console games were easy to get into as well as less taxing on the brain. I have found a great website at WWW.EMURATER.COM that has free to download emulators and games for Sega Mastersystems, Megadrives (genesis), Super Nintendo and a few more consoles. If you like the Mega Drive, and want to play its games on your PC, the Genecyst is the answer. You must own a Mega-Drive and the games to play legally on your computer. The Genecyst is the best emulator I have come across because it has a full screen, great sound and image quality, and if you press space you get a menu with everything you need. You can use the menu to save your game, to configure joystick/joypad/keyboard, to select resolution and much more. Personally I use a 4-button joypad, similar to the Mega-Drive's controllers. This emulator is brilliant for both graphics and sound. It uses the full screen, exactly as you would see on your television with the real console. Well, it's an emulator. It is a small program which plays ROMs on your PC. In this case, the emulator is a Mega Drive/Genesis emulator. The ROMs (games) are about 1MB and the emulator is about 500k. Very small. Now you can get Sonic 3 + Knuckles, SOR, Ecco for nothing with this baby. It runs very well even if you have a low version of Direct X or have a slow/old PC. Zophar is the best place for emulation, so take a visit there. You can record the sounds, use a joypad, speed up the game, change the sound and much more.
