~ ~ I don’t know about the rest of you, but the search engine of choice of the ‘mad cabbie’ is most definitely Google. I admit that when I first started surfing the Web back in the mid-1990’s, I toyed and played with other search engines for a while, the likes of Altavista and Yahoo. But really, when it comes to speed of use, user friendliness, and the accuracy and relevance of search results, the simple fact is that there isn’t another search engine that even comes close to Google. The other day I was reading about a little program that automatically closed down any of those pop-up adverts that annoy the hell out of you whilst surfing the Internet, the trouble was, I had forgotten where I had read about it, hence not remembering where to download it, the reason I was so intent on finding it was, there seems to be a massive increase in these pop-up adverts and they are bloody annoying the hell out of me, especially over on Ciao, where they are popping up on every page you visit. I have owned a Bush internet.tv system since Christmas 2000, and have found it to be very useful and entertaining. I was given the system as a present and prior to this had very little dealings with computers or internet services. The system itself consists of a compact set top box (dimentions approx 8x7x2 inches) which connects to your television by means of a scart lead, a telephone connection lead and a remote keyboard, thats's it!
