Advantages: increases browsing speed, less mess, easy to use
Disadvantages: still uses an internet explorer base
Well guys, how many time has it happened that you are browsing 10 sites together and internet explorer hangs up. Then you get a message that says you gotta close one explorer window. When you click ok, POOF !! All explorer windows are gone. Now, you don't even remember what all sites you were browsing.
Heres where netcaptor comes in. It provides multitasking browsing. That means you can browse multiple sites, and you only need to open one window of captor. In there, you can open multiple windows for different sites. When you minimise each of these internal windows, they get stored in form of tabs at the bottom of the Netcaptor window. When you minimize NetCaptor, all the windows are automatically minimized.
Its an independent application but uses the IE browser. Its only a 720 KB odd setup file and very light on the system. Complete with tabbed browsing, integrated searching from toolbar with multiple search engines and an AWESOME ’’clean up’’ option that erases (and even incinerates by multiple overwriting of junk data) all your records from the history/cookies/temporary internet files etc. All this at one click !!
The clean up feature is great for people who are prone to browsing stuff that they wouldnt like anyone else to see [;->].
Its also really cool as a stealth tool i.e. its the best thing you can have for browsing (e.g. in office like I am doing now) without anyone else knowing it. Heres how :
1) You have just one window which you can minimize. No one knows that you have actually been checking out all your 4 email inboxes, bidding on e-bay and reading some jokes all at the same time. You only see one taskbar button.
2) Its got an option that lets you minimize directly to system tray. So, now when you minimize it, you dont even see a taskbar button.
3) If you have XP, it gets better. You can customize your taskbar so that the NETCAPTOR icon gets hidden even from the system tray when you minimize it. So now...its practically INVISIBLE.
4) There is more !! The tabs generally show the icons of the sites like the red ''Y!'' of yahoo. Theres an option to turn that off too. So you now only see the titles of the open pages in the small tabs at the bottom.
5) As you would have guessed, you can turn THAT off too. So, you have 3 tabs, YAHOO CHAT, MSN CRICKET and REDIFF MAIL. You just select the first tab, hit F9 and type in NDTV news. Voila !! now you are supposedly reading the news. Ditto with all other tabs. You can even type a SPACE and now you have absolutely nothing on the tabs. MAGICAL !!
If theres anything else you need for stealth browsing, you are plain dumb. Use this and no-one will be able to know what you have been doing. Just remember if you are browsing something and have tweaked it as I've written in those 5 points, theres a cool way to hide it totally. If you see someone coming and you hurriedly go to the mouse and click in panic, anyone will know you have been doing something fishy. The alternative, just hit WINDOWS+D twice. The WINDOWS button is the one with the windows symbol between the CTRL and the ALT buttons.
Using netcaptor, you can really simplify your browsing and as is common knowledge, most of the poor users like us on dial-up, are really fussy about our internet time and so this really is a must have tool for everyone. One thing that NetCaptor does is that it saves on your RAM coz you only need to have one window open at one time even though you are browsing lots of sited. Also, the taskbar is not cluttered with all minimized windows. One more excellent feature is that all the minimized tabs show a small progress bar. So you can actually keep track of the pages that are minimized. When a minimized page finishes loading, it doesn't just pop up. Only its progress bar shows green and then you can click on it to see that window.
NetCaptor really increases your browsing speed, efficiency, and reduces the stress related with browsing. Whats more, if you are disconnected or theres a power failure while bowsing, then when you restart netcaptor, all the windows that were open are reatained as they were. Of course, they all start loading again, but atleast you do not have to remember what all sites you were browsing !!
Get this tool, its not very big to download (around 720 KB only), is very popular and easily available.
Summary: Multi tabbed, Easy on resources, Small & easy installation, Helpful for stealth - like in offfice :D

great_guns - 11.01.06 Thanks for your comments folks..
About HTML : I saw it work in the preview which you see after finishing the review. Its pretty weird therefore that it doesnt work here in the "real" thing.
I've worked on Firefox before but somehow I dont like it because it looks a bit too cluttered to me. Its a great piece of software nonetheless.
T hanks for commenting again !
