Advantages: colourful, loads of information, free
Disadvantages: some sites are american
Shes sitting on top of my tool bar right now looking down at me in a bikini and pouting,ok so its only a picture but it looks damn good and beats looking at the standard microsoft grey toolbar. www.hotbar.com is a brilliant website and an excellent idea to jazz up your boring screen. When you first log on to the site you are presented with a registration page where you have to put in the usual details but if you dont click on any of the news letter icons you can get away without your mailbox getting full of clutter.Registration takes a couple of minutes then you get to see the full range of skins "which is the name given to pictures you can download for your toolbar" there are over 63000 to choose from so theres something for everyone. You can have animals, nature views, people, popstars, art, cartoons, sports the list is fairly exhaustive and many of the pictures are quite stunning especially some of the women in the bikinis although there are some guys in underwear for the ladies. The hotbar application takes about 8 minutes to download for the first time and each skin takes 30 seconds to download when you have chosen one you like. You can have 50 skins in your private collection which you can easily change about according to your mood. But hotbar is much more than pretty pictures it runs a clever linking system which monitors what sort of website you are viewing and along the top of the toolbar offers you alternative pages which might be of interest to you relating to the subject you are looking at.Although i have found many of these to be american sites there are many which are british. There are also links to ecards, yellow pages ,weather and chat sites. Overall i have found hotbar to be a great addition to my web surfing not only does it give you loads of usefull websites but its great to look at. You dont need to worry about the changes to your toolbar being permanent as its really easy to remove
the programme by going into settings>control panel> and then add/remove programmes where you will find hotbar listed highlight it then click remove and you are back to the boring old grey toolbar
