So, what is iTunes? iTunes is a fine program made by those brilliant people at Apple. It is designed to play MP3's, WAV's and AIFF files. It organizes all your MP3 files in to a library, and allows you to create playlists. It also allows you to 'rip' MP3's from CD, and also 'convert' MP3's from WAV's and AIFF's. Ah... but it's for Mac. Yep. Damn good idea. Before this, you had to play all your MP3's back on QuickTime, or Soundjam, both of which were pretty appaling programs. But with this, it makes things so much easier. Well im surprised that this hasnt been mentioned so far. But then I relised that when MP3's first came out not many people knew about them either. OK we all know what a dvd is. Its a disk the size of a cd-rom but can hold about 4000MB compared to the standard 650MB. DVDs are commonly used to hold movies on them with very high quality. The only problem is if you dont want to get your most prized DVD getting scratched then the only solution is not to use it. We like the films so thats not gonna happen now is it. Well, as you all read from Mr Whitei's Post DivX ;-) movies are the latest thing. Although one question which should be brought up is the legality of such a format. What is DivX ;-)??? DivX is a new way to encode movies. Currently DVDs are encoded in the Mpeg2 standard and they're size is very big, i.e. for a typical movie you are talking about 5-6 Gigabytes. DivX is different as it uses better encoding techniques which can reduce this by a factor of about eight. Is DivX ;-) Legal??? Not really.
