Advantages: Easy to use media library, Plays Large range of media files, lots of features

Disadvantages: uses a lot of resourses, so a fast computer is recommended, visualisations were not needed

I have been using windows media player 6 for years and never had any bother with it. It was the everything I wanted in a media playing device. Of course I then started wanting to steam videos from certain sites because it was the only way to see certain content. This was not possible as all movies now use WMP9 or Real player G2. So I decided it was time to upgrade.

I'm glad I did too, this new windows media player is packed full of new features and makes finding music on your computer much easier. It is also able to play more types of audio files including CD audio. Now theres no real need for my CD player program.

Other features include being able to make your own play list. For years 'd heard of win amp being great and being able to make play lists on it. But now I can do it on my own Windows Media Player!

Songs played on media player that are on your computer are saved in a big media library. Songs get classed under artist, song name, album name and genre so they are easy to find and play again later. Theres no need to search your computer for audio anymore. This is also true from videos which are just classed under author. But you shouldnt have many videos saved on your computer anyway.

You can go onto an online media guide from a link on the side of the program. This site also gives information on new TV shows and music and the latest releases of music from various artists! You can even listen to hundreds of radio stations!

You dont have to go through the media guide to get to the radio stations though. There is a handy link on the left of the media player. There is radios for any type of music, from classical to heavy metal and dance to rap! Theres something for everyone in the radio list.

Aside from those you can download skins easily for media player and there is a handy link from the skin chooser menu ound on the left of media player. On the site there are a lot of skins to download.

The
only other thing about this, which serves no other purpose but to look fun and cool is the visualisations. These are basically light shows which interact with mp3 and Cd music. There are separate parts that react to each channel of the music (bass section, treble section etc) They are fun for a while but just use up a lot of resourses to run and are quit pointless in the end if you dont have a fast computer. They tend to cause slow down on mine.

Overall it is the best window media player to date and is definately worth downloading. There is next to nothing wrong with it! Best of all its free! I would recommend it to anyone that listens to a lot of music on their PCs!
