24hr Internet - Download While you Sleep (Getright)

Advantages: Can download many files without any supervision and it can redail your ISP if you get dissconnected

Disadvantages: Only needed if you download large amounts of data

Getright is a godsend. Since im a student and i need to ocassionaly sleep i and have to goto college i cant be beside my computer getting all the programs as i would want.
Right now im in the college libary writting this review while at home my obedient computer is downloading a very large file off the microsoft web site, 324MB to be exact. I would love it if i was able to afford a cable modem but like i said before im a student, so im stuck with a 56k modem :(


So getright, i tell it what i need to download then i go about my business through the day not having to worry about the file not finishing. I use NTL internet access which is great 24hr internet access for free, however it has a very anoying catch. It dissconnects me from the internet every 2 hours. This is where getright comes in. Getright has an excellent function included in the software to reconnect to the internet if by any chance it gets dissconnected, and when you use the automatic downloading function when it reconnects to the internet it will continue to download all the files in its list.

Another great part of getright is you can schedule it to start downloading or even to turn off your computer when it has finished all of the files in the list. Trust me this helps when there are people in your house that are into energy conservation, instead of leaving the computer doing turned on when it is not doing anything productive.

If you interested in finding out how much you are downloading and also how much getright has saved you from redownloading its tells you this information in the Help > About section. It is kinda pointless to know but it can be revelating to know.

Thats about all i can say about getright if your looking to evaluate it yourself it can be obtained from www.getright.com however the evaluation version is VERY buggy. If you open up the main window while downloading something it can crash the entire program. The full version is very stable tho
. I would only recoment that you download this program if you download large quantities of data that take a long time otherwise i dont think that there would be any point to it.
