Advantages: Ease of use is second to none, quick, light, visually striking, user-friendly.
Disadvantages: None come to mind.
Chrome is my favourite web-browser of all time.
It's fast, simple, functional and good to look at- what more do you need in a web browser? With the introduction of new skins it looks even more special and personalised when you add appearances such as brushed metal to it, although i still use the original skin to utilise the see-through windows feature of windows 7.
It works brilliantly, and it seems to be noticeably faster than other browsers such as Safari and very much faster than Internet Explorer. The download and installation of chrome was supremely fast and easy and it was installed in seconds. The aesthetics of the browser are great, as it offers a minimalist design that allows you to view web pages in a greater screen size than IE and others because of the minimal intrusion from taskbars, and this is a major plus for chrome. Also, it pioneered the incognito browsing feature which is a funny thing, but cool nonetheless. I also love the favourite sites screen when you open a new tab, which offers one-click access to the sites you most frequently visit, such as facebook, bbc, etc.
Safety is good because it warns you of pages that are known or likely to be dangerous, but it isn't over-the-top like some things can be and does so without much intrusion. Functionality is great- type something into the address bar and google search greets you, or a handy autocomplete form. Saving passwords works with excellent fluidity, and you know how when you have lots of tabs open for a really long session internet explorer starts to lag? No more of that with google chrome, as it incorporates some clever threading technology which prevents this from occurring. Crashing is only very infreqeunt and the drag-and-drop snapping tabs feature is another touch of genius.
Overall, the best browser in my own personal opinion. Incredibly user-friendly, functional, nice to look at, and safe without being overbearing. Chrome crashes only incredibly rarely unlike some browsers and it feels faster.
Summary: I would recommend google chrome to anybody who has become bored of their current browser.

- 05/11/09 I've been dabbling with this lately, and I quite like it, but haven't felt a huge difference compared to Firefox. |
