HTML - Hypertext Markup Language, the driving force behind the development of the Internet as we know it, and a complete waste of time. As a web designer, I'd be lying if I said you don't need to know how to edit HTML, but please, don't waste any time learning how to write HTML from scratch - you just don't need to know it. I took - actually no, I was forced to take - an HTML course as part of my additional studies programme at sixth form. Expecting it to be dull and incredibly complicated, I was in for a pleasant surprise! I don't want to give a lesson on HTML here, but maybe some tips would come in useful. Firstly, if you're thinking of writing a website, I really would recommend you write it yourself rather than using a programme (you use microsoft notepad for this). If you know how to code HTML, then you'll think it's easy, you probably won't understand how anyone could not pick up on this simple formatting language, or even, why they would not want to. If you don't know HTML, you'll probably use something like Frontpage (god help you), DreamWeaver or HoTMetaL, or something similar anyways.
