Imesh is one of the oldest and best file sharing program available on the Internet. It is great for downloading audio, image, media, programs and documents and with the vast amount of people using the network files are easily available. Imesh uses a range of different networks to try and find the best downloads with the most sources. The web sit eis very basic but has all the relevant information and a professional design. The best thing about the free software is that it comes with NO ads or spyware! It's quick to download and quick to install! Really simple, the adware is beyond annoying. Pop-up windows come at you left and right. Some windows wouldn't close in the normal fashion, and they interrupt any work you are doing while connected to the internet. I had to use Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close these windows and many times it locked up my computer and I had to shut it down manually. I didn't even waste any time getting used to the program because of this annoyance. After uninstalling it, it left a "slow" pop-up which makes your "defrag" restart several times taking forever to finish the process and I can"t get rid of it. I have Earthlink "Pop-Up Blocker" which ... Read the complete review

I have recieved information that IMESH has a program hidden in it to snoop thru your files and send data ( personal ) to other companies as well as IMESH. Files that consist of numerous things : a.) personal information: 1.) credit card numbers 2.) personal ID #'s 3.) program access #'s as well as other personal information b.) any information that is usefull to them. If you don't want any of your data searched thru then do not down load this program - but if you don't mind other people searching thru your personal data and information ( then your stupid) then ... I first started using imesh about 3 years ago. At the time it was quite a good P2P network, untill you started to get the people that changed the name of the files. Why thay do it nobody seems to know? but it not what it used to be, the idea of downloading a file "which can take sometimes on a dialup connection most of the night." and then to find out that it is not what the title says it is can be a pain. I know that most people out there say you should not download the files anyway because of copyright, and serves you right but do thay say that when there giving there sister, best friend, son or whoever a copy of the latest cd on a cassette ... I know when you download free software that basically allows you to rip off software and music you can't expect it to be perfect, but I feel I have to say just HOW bad this is. 1. The client takes up 25 meg in memory, which expands very quickly to 40 meg+. 2. The setup installs spy ware (software that sends info about the websites you view to third parties, and downloads adverts to display to you). 3. About every 50 seconds the software uses 100% of the CPU for about 10 seconds. Meaning you get about 1/6 of your processor taken away from you. During this time Windows grinds to a complete halt. Quite simply, this is ... Read the complete review
