Impact Emulator

Downloading copyrighted ROMS is always going to be illegal - but I know of not one example of non-commercial use of the ROMS in question leading to prosecution. the courts of many countries of the world would be full with retro gamers otherwise. If I seriously believed that anyone downloading the ORIGINAL Space Invaders game for there own personally use ON AN ARCADE EMULATOR such as IMPACT was depriving the author of income then I would be dead against the free distribution of ROMS. Impact is an emulator that runs a small number of modern arcade games, like Toshinden. It does need a fairly high-spec Pc to run well, but when it works boy does it work. Imagine playing Toshined at home, faster and smoother than in the arcades but otherwise identical to the version you put all that money into. Isn`t it tempting? I know it was for me. Te biggest problem with Impact is that the games are all very large downloads - 20 megs or so. This can take an hour or more to get over a normal modem. Not many people know about Impact. It was a one off release of an arcade emulator. It emulates the few games such as Streetfighter EX. That's the 3D version of Streetfighter. Now, console owners have much better beat-em ups but poor PCV ownsers have nothing really. This emulator does a very good job. There are the odd graphical glitches and sound problems but nothing to detract at all. It only runs about 7 games, 4 of which are all Streetfighter games and you only need the latest one of those.
