Advantages: Very easy to use, Great interface and design, iTunes store, Burn CDs, Free!

Disadvantages: Doesn't include features to edit music or anything advanced

iTunes is a downloadable application for organising your music and for use with the all-popular iPods. It is totally free and available for download on every type of computer as far as I know - most importantly Macs and PCs. The current version is iTunes 8. It is very simple to use and enables you to create playlists to organise your music, burn CDs and much more!

Most importantly, you can make great use of the fantastic iTunes store. This is basically an online music store where you can buy full quality songs, music videos and much more. You can also head here to buy applications (most of which are free) for the iPod touch and iPhone. You can listen to 30 second previews of all songs, which is a good feature.

iTunes can sort your music into different playlists and you can make your own to organise your music or separate old from new. iTunes is used with all iPods to sync (automatically transfer) music to and from your iPod. A new update on iTunes and the iPods is the 'Genius' feature. It uses advanced technology (from Apple) to find similar songs to a chosen one. It will then create a playlist of similar music, which is good for certain moods! I have tried this many times and it actually works surprisingly well - don't ask me how!

The interface of iTunes is great, which makes it very easy to use. There is a large play/pause button with ones to skip songs either side. Down the left hand side is all the playlists and menus. On the top in the centre of the window is a screen, which displays the music you are listening to, which includes the song name, album and artist. The iTunes store search bar is to the right of this and will find you anything you are looking for. You can also make full use of podcasts, which are audio shows that will be updated every now and then. You can get podcasts on different topics or about different hobbies, which can be interesting to listen to - the majority are free and downloadable in the iTunes store. You can subscribe to your favourite podcasts.
