On the downfall of napster, people where searching far and wide for a good p2p file sharing application. One that they could rely on to share lots of songs just like napster did. Along came morpheous, that went down the pan when they switched to the new network. Now all the users have gone to kazaa, kazaa has the same interface as morpheous but twice as many songs, this makes kazaa the no1 file sharing program out there. There are over 1.8 million users out there on kazaa.


Advantages

Multisource downloading
------------------------
This is where you download a chunk of the file you want off a number of users at a time. This will make your download speed faster than if you were downloading off one user. This is because people have upload limits, so multisource downloading helps download off lots of people, therefore getting the max speed on your connection.


Resume Transfers
----------------
When downloading big files on napster, users used to cancel the transfer half way through, but now, you can resume them downloads. This is helpful because there are some very big file sizes on kazaa, and if you havent got a fast connection, then these will take at least 10 minutes to complete, and when downloading a movie, resume is needed as you wont download it all in one setting.


Share All File Types

On Napster, you could only download mp3 files, but now on kazaa, movies, software and other types of files can be downloaded. All this is done in the easy to configure search bar.


Instant Messaging

This is a usefull feature if you want to talk to the people you download off. You can add them to your list and then contact them anytime you want. A nice little feature.


Upload and bandwidth limits
---------------------------
This can be good and bad for you. It can be good because it stops people f
rom downloading off you and therefore stops draining your bandwidth and making your downloads faster, but also, it can make downloading off people slower as they will have bandwidth limits switched off.

Spyware and Adware
------------------
These are very bad and can bring damage and viruses to your computer. This is where kazaa installs some files into your computers system files, and therefore people can access your computer and see what your doing. They can use up your bandwidth and spy on your privacy. Adware is where popup ads appear like they came from nowhere. All this can be removed if you download kazaa lite(see bottom)


Bitrate limit
--------------
This is where you can only download music at 128kbps maximum. This is below cd quality, so that your songs wont be crystal clear. This can be removed using kazaa lite also.


Search Results
---------------
On kazaa, the maximum search results displayed is 100, so you have to know what your looking for, this can also be removed using kazaa lite.


Test

This is my test what i did, this shows what songs can be found and how many, test conducted at 4.16pm in the UK on kazaa!

Eminem : 101 results
Steps : 99 results
Whitney Houston : 112

This shows that a wide variety can be found with a lot of songs, so you wont get 1-2 songs for each artist.


Kazaa Lite

Kazaa lite is a cracked version of kazaa. It removes all spyware and adware in the kazaa, it removes the annoying bonzi buddy link in kazaa and it removes the search and bitrate limit. I advise everyone to download this, this is the best one. It can be found at http://www.kazaalite.com
