Advantages: NONE
Disadvantages: SPYWARE, ADWARE, SYSTEM CRASHES
If I EVER met a Kazaa developer in person, I CANNOT be held responsible for my reaction!!!!! The amount of spyware Kazaa installs is UNBELIEVABLE!! I am a professional computer programmer/user and it has taken me over a week to get most of the spyware off my system. Some still lingers, and has to be manually removed even after running adaware, McAfee, AND AOL spyware removal. When running Kazaa, I caught new Trojan Horses almost daily, even going to sites like Google. My system found so many search page hijackers, browser modifiers, and adware programmers on my machine, it was UNBELIEVABLE. Not to mention, installation is all but reversable. When you install Kazaa, it puts roughly 20 spyware/adware objects on your machine, and on uninstallation it does not remove any of them! I could understand back in the day when Kazaa would pop up one or two windows every few minutes. That was acceptable. NOW, when I open an internet explorer window, I get 7 or 8 pop ups and pop undersat a time!!!! When I Alt+F4 to quickly close them, more pop up. Periodically, Internet Explorer just stops working altogether until I reboot. PLUS, if you think you can run an adware remover in conjunction with Kazaa, you are mistaken. If Kazaa detects that any of its devious components have been deleted or even quarantined, Kazaa will not open and will prompt you to re-install. My brand new system also has to be rebooted multiple times each day now. My mouse randomly stops working and with all the browser objects it installed, two or three internet explorer windows will eat up most of my system resources. Explorer crashes completely on a frequent basis. YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY REGRET INSTALLING THIS SOFTWARE!!! There are other file sharing apps in the world. MAY HARM BEFALL KAZAA AND ALL OF IT'S DEVELOPERS.

- 05/07/04 Would agree it sounds totally evil. Sorry for being pig-headed with the rating, though - but you haven't mentioned WHY anyone would want Kazaa in the first place (ie "it's a program that lets you..."), so it all seems a tad redundant. Dumb, I know, but it just struck me as a glaring omission! |
