I began using Limewire about 4 years ago, when other P2P websites were removed such as Napster, Kazzaa etc.

What is Limewire?

Limwire is a software based P2P website, providing movies, music, software and images worldwide. What this means is, you are able to download pretty much every song and movie from one person's machine, to your's. From Michael Jackson to Eminem, from Lazy Town to Saw4.

How much does it cost?

It's completely FREE. Download the software direct from Limewire.com, but please remember it is NOT legal to download movies / music.

Is it safe?

To be honest, i've had my fair share of potential virus downloads from limewire, but what do you expect? You are not downloading from a trusted website, you are downloading direct from someone else's computer. Just be careful.
A few points i use when downloading from Limewire, and it helps me:
1. Have an idea how big a music file / movie will should be. A music file should be around 3mb - 8mb. If it states 105kb, the chances in this being a song is pretty slim. The same goes for software packages and movies. (I movie could be 800mb, so a 50kb file isn't likely to be a film.

Is it illegal?

As far as i know, it is, as you are downloading illegally coppied CDs / DVDs. As long as you're safe, and not stupid, you 'should' be fine, but with ISPs cracking down you have been warned.

How quick is a download?

This depends purely on your connection, and the uploaders connection speed. I've had experience of downloading a music track in 10 seconds (this is on an 8MB connection)

How easy is it to use?

The software is great. Very easy to use.
Simply select a category (Music / Movies etc) the type the artist / name / title etc of what you require, Press search, and wait.
Once you see an item you like, doulble click, and it will add it to your downloads. The help guides are very usefull should you get stuck.

Does this mean other people can doanload ANYTHING from me?
NO!
Anything that is stored in the Limewire shared folder will be available to the world. I tend to ONLY keep my download files in there, NOT my personal files.
