Having used peer to peer software programs like Kazaa and Kazaa Lite in the past, I was fairly reluctant to try Limewire as I had managed to pick up a few viruses from such programs in the past. However, I was advised that security on poor and malicious uploads has been improved for Limewire and I am pleased to say that that is how I have found it to be.

The basic principle of Limewire is for people to share their music, video and applications through a peer-to-peer system that connects the computes of all people logged in needing to share aspects of files from each other. It sounds complicated but it really isn't.

The download and installation of this software is as simple as doing a Google search for Limewire and downloading and installing. The on screen prompts will make things very clear for you.

I can't comment on the ease of uploading a file as I have not done it myself, but downloading could not be easier. You basically search for what you want and you can choose to refine your search into the various categories like video, music etc... From there, you simply browse the results and choose the file you would like. Each file receives a stars rating given to it by people who have downloaded it and can vouch for its validity. Try to steer clear of less than 4 star files to be on the safe side.

Once this has been done, you will get to choose where to save the file on your computer and the download will begin, the speed of which being determined by your connection speed and the number of people online with the file ready that you want. This can be really fast or really slow. There seems to be no in between.

The one down side is that, while running, it does seem to slow down even the fastest of PCs, so use it sparingly.

I'd recommend this program as the peer-to-peer file sharing program of choice.
