Advantages: Fas and efficient filtering of spam . Very easy to use

I was plagued with spam on my main email account . I decided I had to try and find away to fight this scourge, and not just by changing email addresses which can be a real pain .
I looked around and eventually came upon Mailwasher. It was available as a demo download to try. I downloaded this and set it up.The demo version would only allow one email address to be added , which was sufficient to test fully, and prove its worth. After using the demo version for a few months I decided that it was worth the money ( about £20 at the time) and stumped up the cash to get the licence key to unlock the demo version to the full version.
All you have to do is set up your email addresses in mailwasher, which is reasonably straight forward as long asd you can remember your passwords etc. It can also do hotmail accounts etc .Mailwasher then logs into your email server and lets you see what mail is waiting for you with out you downloading it.
Key features are that you establish a list of "friendly " email addresses and a list of "blacklisted" email addresses. This is done simply by clicking on the email and saying add to friends list or black list.These lists are then applied to all incoming email. you can also add domains to the list so you can allow or block mail addresses en mass. These lists can be reviewed and amended easliy if you add something to the wrong list by mistake
Mailwasher has a learning capability which will examine the addresses you have added to your list and suggest a potential category when a new email address appears, you can then decide which way you want to go.
Once the email has be classified you can then tell what should be done with the spam. - mailwasher can delete from your email server without you having to download it, it can also bounce it - that is send it back saying "not known at this address" to try and fool the spammer.
Mailwasher can be linked to spam databases such as Spamcop etc so that known spam can be highlighted. Please note some spam databases require a subscription to use them.
In general a great tool which can help stop the spammers and make your email inbox a safer place. 10 out of 10 from me
