Advantages: Play old arcade games

Disadvantages: Not easy to use

If you want to play old arcade games on your computer then Mame (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) is what you need. Mame is an emulator that will allow you to play games which were originally either on old arcade machines, or on the neo-geo games console. The latest version of Mame can run over 1000 games.
Obviously, you have to supply the ROM's - image of the game data. But these are not hard to find on the internet, though you should read the usual legal disclaimers.
The program is not particularly user-friendly, it has no easy to use front-end, you run it and load a game via the command line. Though, there are front-ends available as add-on's. The official home of Mame is www.mame.net
