Is this new? Is it better than the virus scan? I dont know the answer to the first of these questions but I was having problems with the latest version of Macafee virus scan and Internet explorer 5.5 when I came across this little gem. It is a web based virus shield and scanner that relies on Macafee to update the info and it shields and scans your computer from the web. This has two main advantages,a) you are always up to date and b) you need a smaller and less clumsy programme on you hard drive. The disadvantages are that you need to be on line to run a scan on your hard drive. The system still sheilds your computer all the time and will protect ...

Despite having a computer only a short time, and with McAfee to hopefully kill the deadly viruses on my e-mails, the KAK.Worm penetrated my defences. In fact we must have had the virus for some time, as the computer kept doing strange things, like failing to respond to start ups properly, and the colours being unable to be changed. Also, e-mails sometimes went in Outlook express and sometimes they didn't, the same problem also with receiving them.Unfortunately every time I sent a e-mail, prsumably the recepient was infected with the KAK virus. I have been subscribing to the online McAfee virus program for the last two years now and in the main have been very happy with it. You can pay on line over a secure server and it is hassle free. It does take some time to initially download the components but rest assured once loaded you can set it to work in the background the whole time you have your pc on. You can also set it up so that when you are usually on line it becomes active to download new stuff and tell you about any new viruses and their risk in terms of low, medium and high risk.
