AutoRoute 2001 maps just about every European road above dirt track level (over 2.5 million miles). Autoroute 2001 is the latest route planning package to have made its way out of the Microsoft camps and I must say that the detail and features in this version cannot be beaten. The CD is full to the brim and not surprisingly so because the map of Britain is that detailed that I can even find my own house and the pub that is about 200 metres away. You will not get a better package for mapping your routes. I do alot of travelling with work and I find Autoroute 2001 invaluble. The detail is fantastic even in the small welsh villages. You can plan you route from A to B or you can take it via a certain point. You can enter the price of petrol and it will work out how much the trip will cost you provided you keep to a sensible speed. It will give you the fastest route time wise and the fastest route milage wise which is not always the fastest route time wise. This was free with my new pc and not something I would have bought myself, but it is brilliant. It's very easy to use, you just type in your start and destination and your route and a map is prepared. You can go in and alter the type of roads that you like or don't like, to avoid motorways, ferries or toll bridges. It estimates the journey time and gives an approximate time for your journey. It even tells you how much the journey will cost, although with petrol prices rising by the day, this will be out of date.
