Advantages: Makes planning a journey easy peasy

Disadvantages: None

This was free with my new pc and not something I would have bought myself, but it is brilliant.

It's very easy to use, you just type in your start and destination and your route and a map is prepared.

You can go in and alter the type of roads that you like or don't like, to avoid motorways, ferries or toll bridges.

It estimates the journey time and gives an approximate time for your journey. It even tells you how much the journey will cost, although with petrol prices rising by the day, this will be out of date.

The map generated points out places of interest along the route, you can also measure distances between places, save your journey details for another time and locate places on the map.

Your journey itinery and map can be printed out to take with you, which is very handy.

I would have thought this was a 'man' thing (sexist remark, I know!) but it's really handy for women!

I e-mailed a route to family who were travelling South to visit me for the first time. Amazing.
