A Client/server network is best for a small business. I looked at this type of network when networking my home up.

This is how it works

This network needs a devise called a server to run the network. A server is a powerful network-ready computer with a large hard drive. Its serves the rest of the network as a central store for application and files. By storing key resources on a server, all users can access them quickly and conveniently. Plus you can back up the data top the server quickly and reliable.

You can add a variety of servers on your network. A file server enables certain people to access key applications and files from one central location. An Internet Server, when connected to the Internet, puts your business/company onto the world wide web. It allows anyone with Internet access to view documents and video and audio files about your company.

You can also use a web server to create an Internet, where information and productivity applications, like collaboration and white boarding tools, can be accessed and shared by your employees only. A print server can control the printers on your network, enabling employees to use any printer attached to your LAN. An e-mail sever provides e-mails services for users. Or you can install servers to enable business operations, like sales, order taking, manufacturing, accounting or purchasing.

A client/server architecture can streamline a companies process and improve employee productivity because all files are easily accessed from a centralised location rather than from individual computers. Employees will work with the same information and applications and information can be kept current.

Client servers networks are

· Slightly more expensive than peer to peer networks
· Fairly simple to install
· Can be expanded
· Best for centralizing large applications and important data
· More effective for controlling and distribution resources to users
.

So anyone with a business I do recommend this type of network. It will save you money. Trust me
