... with my new laptop, i was naturally sceptical about it. I tried to copy a CD, it worked well, but the copy sounded poor on a normal stereo. I toggled around with some recording features and hey presto, the CD sounded good. I played a DVD. The picture and sound quality were good, not perfect, but way above the standard I had been expecting. VCD's work quite well too. Windows Media Player is nowhere near as good as any of the standalone programs you can buy, but WMP is free and does the job. The Media Library...more

I was notified by CNET download about this product and I downloaded the 7MB file (a trial version). This amazing product zapped me, but my PC crashed (not because of WMP) and later as I replaced my HDD, the first product I installed after Windows98 was Windows Media Player 7 and that too, is not a trial version. Now what is so amazing about it? To play music (mp3) ? I had windows media player, which comes with Windows98 and Winamp and real player. To play CD ? I had creative infra media player, Real player would scream saying this software is not available for this. To play video ? I had Zing player and movie player that ships with Windows 98. In my very own opinion, Windows Media Player 7 is far more complicated to use than the awesome leader Winamp. Nevertheless, we can't compare the both programs. The only comparable program is of course Quicktime. And, as usual, Microsoft is taking the lead in the area. First, it's totally free (Quicktime Pro will cost you 30 dollars). Second, it has this great oportunity to be compatible with the famous DIVx plugin which allows you to play DVD rips (downloaded from the web) on your PC with actual digital video AND music quality. You can customize your WMPlayer (only the skin), even with your own imagination, while ...  Read the complete review

Windows media player 7 is something that everyone should have on their computer. The program allows you to play a whole range of different media types, including MP3s and mpeg files. It allows you to play a audio CD while showing groovy visualisations in the video display area that move in time with the music. There are over 20 different visuals to choose from when playing a CD or other digital music file. The program will let you copy your CD's to store and play on the computer. It allows you to copy entire CD's or just particular tracks from a CD by simply checking the check box of the tracks you want to be copied. You can even ...  Read the complete review

Windows Media Player 7 is a big difference to any of its pervious versions. The main features of Windows Media Player include a media guide, so that if you're online you can receive information. A media library, so that you can organise all your files and create playlists too. There's a radio tuner so that you can listen to radio stations from around the world. Plus there's the very unique feature that'll allow you to hook up a portable device like a personal organiser or mobile phone so that copy music onto it! There's also the ability to copy music from CD's! Windows Media Player will play most video and audio files ...  Read the complete review

With the advent of the Internet the whole world suddenly became connected to everywhere. A little after and before (most probably) media formats were developed for computers. These allowed things such as short movies and music to be viewed at home over the Internet with ease. Probably the most famous of these formats has been mp3, which has caused the music industry to re-think how it does business. Also mpeg (a format that allows video as well as sound) has become quire popular and you now get movie trailers over the Internet, this has also been used with the DVD Video format. Anyway enough of the brief introduction, I am going to talk about the Windows ...  Read the complete review
