MSN Messenger, now called Windows Live Mesenger is a downloadable programme fo your computer in which you can connect to the internet through and chat to friends. This is basically a instant messaging service.

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALLATION
Downloading Windows Live Messenger is a easy process with you simply needing to visit the www.msn.com website and click the messenger tab at the top of the screen then click download now. The software will download onto your machine but this is simply a setup file. You need to run the set up file and then it installs onto your machine.

GETTING A WINDOWS LIVE ID
To get a live account you can visit hotmail.com and create a account. You can also use your current email address by registering it as a windows live account.

LOG IN STAGE
Once you have your windows live ID you can now access the instant messaging service. Enter your email into the Email address section and then enter your password. You can check the boxes under the email and passsword entry which are
*Remember Me
*Remember My Password
*Sign Me in Automatically

By checking the remember me box the software will remember you the next time you open the live messenger software, which saves you from entering you username on every log in.
You can check the Remember My Password box this remembers your password on every visit.
Sign Me in Automatically box check will sign you into windows live messenger every time the software is opened!

ADDING FRIENDS
Friends can be added for you to chat to by clicking the add friends tab above the contacts list. Here you will be required to enter your friends windows live email address. Then when your friend accepts your request there live account will be added to your contacts

CHATTING TO FRIENDS
You can open boxes which mean you can then communicate with friends. Double click or right click and then select send instant message.

WEBCAM/VIDEO CALLS
Video Calls can be made on Live messenger by opening a chat box then clicking the video chat option above the chat screen. The video box will be to the right hand side, the same in which webcam would be. Video calls mean you can also listen to what the friend has to say etc, you need a headset or a mix to talk through this service.

APPLICATIONS
Live messenger has alot of games which you can play with friends. From Backgammon to Checkers etc etc. These are played through a screen which will be attached to the messaging service. Played through Java. Java needs to be installed

BLOCKING USERS
If a friend or you get a friend request with someone abusing you or typing horrible things you can simply put the user on ignore by clicking the BLOCK USER tab. This mean the user blocked will beable to have no contact with you over this service!
