Advantages: You can talk to people via voice or video.

Disadvantages: Slow, Bloated, Ads, large window size.

MSN is, for a chat program, incredibly resource intensive. I really don't think that any program that is used for talking to people should use this much system processing power. Not to mention that the size of the windows are flaming massive. They take up too much space on the screen for my liking, and the sound it uses to notify you is just downright annoying. Then they include the option to play games on it, and I admit this is a bit pointless. It just adds to the total file size. speaking of Adds, MSN places several them down the side, which is just annoying.
It does include voice and video communications though, and I really think that's all you need in a chat program. It's rather bloated, and if your considering using this, i suggest you find and download Gtalk, by Google. Overall, a bloated, oversized program, with many unnecessary functions. I don't really recommend it.

Summary: I really recommend you get something like Gtalk, not this.
