Advantages: Good to tlak, speedy

Disadvantages: Things get mis interpreted

I have used MSN messenger since I was a young girl at school. At the time it was the in thing and everybody was using it. I would get home from school and quickly log on to see who was avaliable for a chat and a gossip.

It soon become clear to both me and my parents that this was not always a good thing. There were so many times that I fell out with friends or that groups of friends were arguing due to something that was said over Msn.

My mother stated that 'in her day' there were no such things as computers and mobile phones, and if you wanted to talk to somebody you would either have to call them or go round to their house.

I found that more often than not things got mis interpreted over msn. With all the text talk that goes on and the fact that when something is said over msn the person on the other end could not hear the tone of your voice this often caused problems and people would take them the wrong way.

Msn is an instant messaging service whereby you add people to your list of friends by an e mail address and then you are able to talk to them instantly. Much like an e mail except you have it all in one box and can reply instantly. It is really simple to use, you simply log in, find the person you wish to speak to and start having a chat. Installation is easy and it is avaliable for download on the msn website. You do need an e mail address for this though.

I suppose it is a good advantage that you can only speak to people who have your e maill address, and you do have to accept them in orderfor them to become your friends and give them the chance to have a conversation with you. You also have to option to block people who are not welcome.

I found that at the time MSN was my whole life. I used it daily and became addicted but as previously stated it did cause me a lot of problems. It was for a time a lifeline but I found that I never used to get anything else done, including homework.

You obviously have to have an internet connection for this and the faster the better as sometimes it can become too much for your computer to handle otherwise.

I no longer use MSN as I am a lot older now and dont have a use for it but I know many people who do still use it. My mum also uses it to speak to one o he friends in America and it is good for this.

If you are a parent I would make sure you are aware of who your children are speaking to. I think this goes without saying but it is simple to guess an e mail address and ones that is done it is easy to speak and view pictured displayed by the msn account holder.
