Advantages: quick

Disadvantages: can go down

Most people use it, most people know of it, most people depend on it, but over the years I have come to some conclusions about the powers and problems of MSN. I felt rather than explain what it is in great depth, I would summarise that and focus on the advantages of disadvantages of it:

What is MSN Messenger:

It is a downloadable program which allows you to chat to people online, in real time. You can send files, have video calls and use it also to access email.

The good points:

* Chat to friends online whenever you are both on
* Swap music, mps can send within minutes
* Make friends online and add them to your contact list
* Easy to navigate, just click on someone and start chatting
* Upload your own display pictures
* Record voice clips and let new people hear what you sound like
* Chat to relatives of friends in other countries through video calls, you can see and hear them live
* MSN operates from a small window and is tucked neatly into the corner of your screen
* Decide how you wish to display contacts onscreen, you can have them cascading or all hidden beneath each other

My bad points:
*The lack of emotion online, when one types something you cannot tell whether it is meant with sarcasm or meant with spite
*Blocking people, people can and will block you at random, which can surprise and upset if you are sensitive
* MSN can sometimes have trouble signing you in, which means it will go down for a few hours before you can sign in again
* Random people can obtain your address and ask to add you, you can say no to them, but it is often bewildering how they got your address in the first place
* People will use awful online language. Words like 'kk' are supposedly meant to abbreviate saying 'ok.' Intelligent people will not that it is not an abbrevation as it is also two letters!
* MSN can be addictive, so be warned.

Overall: A useful service, but there are some pitfalls which will annoy you in the long run. It is a good tool for making friends and sustaining relationships though and can get you through moments of intense boredome while online into the early hours of an evening!
