Advantages: Stable, used little RAM, On-line games set-up fast, send files directly.

Disadvantages: Not as many people use this as ICQ, which is unfortunate, because it is better.

The thing that strikes me about MSN messenger is the fact that it never pops up with ads or in anyway gets intrusive like ICQ, and it does not take up hardly any memory at all.

When you connect to the internet, it automatically signs-on for you, so you don't have to enter your username/password every time that you go online like you do with other messenging services. Also, as soon as a friend goes online, a little thing will appear near to the icon in the system-tray, which says "so and so has just logged-on", which is helpful to have.

It is great to use too, with some fantastic features. For example, you can start an on-line game with your friend who has MSN too (any game which is supported by zone.com - i.e. most games with multiplayer options) without you even having to know how to set-up a multiplayer game at all (it does all the hard stuff for you, like putting in the IP address and so on).

Another helpful feature is that you can send a file directly to the person you are chatting to, instead of you uploading a file and them downloading it all through an email. This method is much easier and quicker, and SO useful.

A nice little feature too is that smilies get turned into little pictues, not just smilies though, because there are a whole range of little icons, like a pint of beer - made by typing in (b), to a icon for a gift (g).

You can chat to multiple people too, all at the same time.

In conclusion MSN is Stable, Memory efficient, has some great features. I really think people should use this rather than the very bulky ICQ.
