All my friends are on MSN Mesenger so I eventually decided to get it myself. They all like the PC version, but the Mac version is simply terrible.

The PC version offers coloured text, voice chat and other things, as well as frequent updates. It sounds like a really useful product. The Mac version, on the other hand, offers nothing apart from basic text chat. It also requires twice as much memory as the PC version and crashes frequently. While the PC version is on a rather stable version 3.5, the Mac version has lingered on version 1.0.0 for nearly two years.

I have had it for about six months and it is beaten hands down by ICQ and AOL instant Messenger. But as my friends are on MSN and won't change because their version is good I am stuck with it if they want to talk to them.

This is very crafty marketing by Microsoft. PC users will download the good version because it is full of features, efficient and stable, while the Mac users will have to download the crappy version because their PC-using friends use MSN.

this is not good enough. Microsoft have been updating their other products for Mac fairly promptly, but for some reason Messenger is lying in the dust being trampled.
