Microsoft may have forgotten about the year 2000, but they did remember to put something out for us to party to in 2001! And I'm not talking about 'The Final Countdown' or 2001 - A Space Oddysee. No, I am talking about Microsoft's quite brilliant Office Suite 2001 for Macintosh. In the past Microsoft Macintosh software seems to have been a bit 'tacked-on' and usually a rather poor port of the original Windows editions. I have managed without Office for a good number of months but since I started doing A-levels, I decided that Word, Excel and Powerpoint were essential, so have had to sideline my faithful AppleWorks 6 and start using Office ...

This is the suite for you If you a) still have friends who persist in the outdated practice of owning a Windows machine b) use a Windows PC at work c) need someone to do all of the routine things you hate d) get fed up of limited keyboard shortcuts or e) forget faces easily. Owning a Mac might sometimes be a sign of a rebellion against the great bastion of Microsoft, but with Office 2001, it's worth being disloyal to the Apple brand. Appleworks seems like a cheap but clever little sister compared to O2001. Nowadays most files are saved in one or another Microsoft format so O2001 can be an essential tool. Not even the latest ...
