I have been developing C++ software for some years now. Visual C++ Version 6 is basically the best development environment I have come accross. It has everything, resource editing for Windows, class member completion, excellent class browser. The only thing that lets it down ( for me personally ) is the editor itself, sure it is colour coded, fully configurable and has every function you will probably wish for, but it just isnt VI is it !!! The thing that sells me on VC++ for Windows development is the use of the very well supported Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) library. The library has a huge following and plenty of Internet sites exist ... Read the complete review

I had used this programme for my research purposes. Part of my research requires me to calculates complex structures using complex mathematics. I need to write it in C/C++ and I found this programme to be very helpful and user friendly. Learning this program initially is a bit difficult since there are a lot of options that you need to become accustomed to. Hwoever, once you passed this stage of learning, things will be very easy. The development window has plenty of useful tools on top, something like Microsoft Words. It comes also with help files that I find very useful when I got stuck trying to program it. There is also the debug option which you can use to run your ... Read the complete review

This is an evil program. It has never done what I have asked it to do, and it is very tedious. The layout of the program isn't very friendly as most of it is plain boring text. There is no easy way to use this program as the programmer has very little help in making programs seeing as there is no graphical interface to this program. When compiling a program after you have made it it ever rarely complains, many of the source files that came wiht the program had errors which meant that I could not use them with my program although they were needed. The debugging however is good, as it takes the program's code line by line and it is very ... Read the complete review

MS Visual C++ 6.0 provides a good IDE for developing serious C++ application on Windows platforms. Good integration with COM and MFC. Loads of useful features such as auto-text completion, syntax highlighting, configurable editor, class viewer and best of all a function that lists all the members in a drop-down list box right in the editing window. No need to look at the header file to find out what the method is called nor what format its' paramters take. The debugger is very powerful, allowing you to make changes to code on-the-fly in a debugging session. So, if you find a bug whilst debugging, you can make the change there and then and the IDE ... I am studying Advanced GNVQ IT at college and am learning C++ amongst other things!, i absolutly hate it!, i have never come across anything so hard!, no wonder people who do it as a career get so well paid!!, however i am finding it a little easier as i progress!, but very slowly!, Visual Basic i believe is much easier to do and to understand!, maybe because you can actually design what is shown on screen rather than just all typing!! I am only able to produce the simple of programs at the moment but i am getting better at making more complex ones. Hopefully C++ will become unused!!, one can only wish!!! I dont recommend it!! ...
