Covering the pre-.NET languages supported by microsoft, this is a sturdy tool for development - as long as you are developing using microsoft frameworks of course. I have developed MFC, DirectX and .COM objects using this tool and can vouch for it's usefulness here (not sure about the newer dx 10 framework however). Lack of clear documentation here can be overcome by buying one of the many books that litter amazon nowadays but overall I find this IDE to be slightly clunky. The autocomplete (intellisense) works "ok" in this edition but is nothing to write home about. Lack of refraction tools makes this a pain for larger projects but you get used to it in the ... Covering Visual C++, Visual J++ (until MS phase it out), FoxPro, Visual Basic, InterDev, SourceSafe and more this is the all-in-one package that the every Windows developer should own. InterDev draws the whole complicated affair together and the learning curve is quite steep, but oncve you mastered the basics the level of integration is stunning. All of the pieces fit together beautifully well and the degree of control handed to the user for code creation in the visual environment, debugging and maintenance is far better than anything I've used in the past. I expect some of my friends will wonder where I have been for the last week. No opinions and such. Well, I have been to London to study. I have been studying Enterprise Web Development with ASP using VS6 at Learning Tree Associates. It comprises of 2 main applications Visual Basic 6.0 and Interdev 6.0. The Course was excellent (must write about it later) but it gave me a great insight into Web development and programming using this powerful and creative piece of software.
