Advantages: cheap, legal, ease of use
Disadvantages: copy protected files
We all like stuff for free and some people like music for free so what do they do? They go to the P2P (peer to peer) websites and download free music of course as more and more people are doing this the music companies are going mental that they are not making enough money because people are getting it for free of the P2P websites. And so in 2005 they have decided to crack down on this and children have faced fines up to 4 thousand pounds and if they can’t cough up the dough then their parents face imprisonment……. But the music is so expensive in the shops we don’t want to buy an album that have 5 good songs and 50 rubbish ones. We want the music that we like cheap and that’s where napster comes in.
-*-*- So what is napster?-*-*-
As I have already described in the first paragraph people want their music cheap and napster is one in a few of the legal downloading companies so you can download all the music you want of napster just your tracks not all the rubbish ones that come with it.
-*-*- Is napster legal? -*-*-
Yes napster is legal because although you are downloading music of napster you do have to pay a small fee you can pay 79p a track or there is unlimited downloads for 15 pound a month which is great price if you like your music.
So after that you must think napster is one of the best things in the world!! (If you like your music) not exactly…. Although you can download unlimited music you can play them with a license that napster automatically acquires you with and this napster license also configures your media player. But the music that you download is copy protected with napster DRM settings you may think that sounds all complicated but basically you can only play your music that you download on your pc. So this means that you can’t put them on CD’s you cant put them on your fancy iPod or your Creative Zen Micro. If you want to put them songs on a disk you have to pay 79p per track…… But there is one way of doing it which I am not allowed to say because it would be illegal…..
You know what napster does now but what system requirements do you have to have?
Well it is recommended that you have broadband because the setup is 11MB but the other main system requirement is that you have Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP (note) Napster will not work on any other operating systems. One other thing is you have to have a credit card otherwise you can’t pay for the music.
You can unsubscribe from napster at any time but if you do this will take all your music with it too…..
Napster are aiming to be the largest music collection in the world and they add over 100 tracks per day but some of the time napster tracks are “not available” so this means you cannot play the track that you are hoping to pay. Otherwise the music collection is very good.
You don’t have to pick a specific song you can download an album or just browse and download the whole British top 40.
So all in all I think napster is a good service and I’m sorry I can’t tell you how to put the tracks onto CD  But anyway thanks for reading my review I sincerely hoped you enjoyed it if you have any questions please leave me a note in my guestbook…
