If any of you Napster users have recently tried to connect to the service, you will have noticed that you cannot connect until you download a new version of their software.

Now you may expect that this new software comes with added features but in fact its main purpose is the addition of filtering rules that Napster have to include to comply with the US court rulings.

I logged on at peak time to find only 45 users online. I was SHOCKED! The last time I had logged on, there were around 950,000 users online. "Did I find any songs?" I hear you ask? Nope not a single one! With 45 users to choose from, the chances were pretty rare to begin with.

Unless users come up with an ingenious idea to overcome the filtering rules, it looks like Napster is dead and buried.

I set out in search for a new file sharing program and that is where I found a saviour...Kazaa (Kazaa.com - see my forthcoming opinion on it).

With Kazaa, it looks like Napster has a successor and an improved one at that!

NAPSTER IS DEAD!
