Advantages: Free Music, Free Software, Free Everything!!
Disadvantages: Some files contain virus', Ad-ware can be a problem, Occasionally people rename files, so you may not download what you are looking for
Well since Napster shut its doors a while ago I've converted to being a Kazaa lite user. I find Kazaa is Very good for downloads, whether it be Movies, games or music you are after many of the users offer a wide variety of different things. The best part about Kazaa is that it is free to download and use so all you pay is your phone bill (if you are not paying monthly ).
Being a broadband user many users speeds depend on their connection even if you have a broadband landline they may be using a 56KB modem so it'll take the time of a 56KB modem to transfer onto your system so this can effect the rate of transfer from one machine to another. I would recommend it to everybody that has a large enough computer to download files onto :-)
Kazaa Lite is slightly different from the Normal Kazaa program I am told, Kazaa lite has removed all the spyware from the product to prevent you from getting bombarded with junk mail relating to the product you are downloading although this is not the case!, Occasionally when downloading files I used a program called Ad-Aware to check my system only to find numerous files had appeared on my system, since Kazaa is the only program I have used recently I blame it for these files, although with Ad-Aware you can update it nearly daily and quarantine the files or delete them from your system.
Once you have searched for an item you wish to download there is a bar called ETA which will estimate the time the item will take to download. I find it very handy to know roughly how long it will take to download, although as more users log on who have the same file the transfer speed will increase as the ETA decreases. My one main complaint about Kazaa is that some users rename files so when you download something you wish, it may not be the item you required.
Overall a rather good service which I would recommend but make sure you have a virus checker on the system before you download anything is my advice.
Another good idea is to even download a spyware/adware remover which you can get from Kazaa, most programs are complete and usually come with the key codes to access the programs.
