MAME ... you have any fond memories of any arcade games? Perhaps you can remember wasting away time when you were younger by blasting a few space invaders, or any of the other hundreds of games that would be found in Arcades up and down the country. If by any chance you do have an urge to play an old arcade machine, chances are you can do this now, just by owning a PC (or other supported platform), this piece of software and some ROM images for the games you wish to play (which can be downloaded from many sites). NeoRAGEx ... remember the NeoGeo? It cost like £2-300 and the games were almost as much!! Now the name SNK is like the holy grail in terms of old-school arcade games. They made the finest series of beat-em-ups -"The King of Fighters", "Samurai Shodown" and "Fatal Fury". I remember going to the arcade stalls on seaside holidays pumping the machines full of coins....... and boy when I found out you could get these games playing on your PC I was so happy! I downloaded the emulator, got some ROM files and started to play! Perfect sound, perfect controls and perfect gameplay with graphics to boot! MAME ... is huge in PC gaming - How else can you play all those classics of yesteryear? MAME (short for Multi Arcade Machine Emulator) is about the only way to play almost all the arcade classics from when you were young, without trying to buy the original arcade machines themselves. Whilst all the ROM's state that to legally play any of the games you must own an original copy of the ROM for the arcade machine. However, this is merely a formality, and is widely ignored by most MAME users.
