Advantages: Compatibility, Skins, All In One Email & Download Manager
Disadvantages: No Better Than IE, Skins, All In One Email & Download Manager
Neoplanet - What a cool name! I was pleased to find this so called browser, which in fact is actually a whole new interface for Internet Explorer. (You must have IE installed to use Neoplanet). The reason I was so pleased is for that very reason. I have tried Netscape 4.7, Netscape 6, Opera, and of course Internet Explorer. I like a reliable and functional system (Oh Where did I put my Amiga?)... No browser is perfect, They are all in-compatible with some web pages (Bar Internet Explorer), and when I go online I don't want to be restricted in what sites and pages I visit at all. So, the most compatible browser (and currently most reliable) is Internet Explorer 5.5. Neoplanet simply gives Internet Explorer a new interface, that can use SKINS! And low and behold, it sounds like a new piece of MP3 Software. Neoplanet is good, Stable, has built in email client (simple though), built in Messenger (No, It's another interface for Lycos Chat Messenger), and can be made to look, and sound, very nice indeed. It also has a Channel Bar System, to make your favorities all fancy! But I didn't like this channel Bar as it seemed to slow down and complicate the whole process of working with Favorites. However, It's still Internet Explorer you are browsing the net with... No Better... No Worse. The Choice is yours! I would recommend it over all other alternative browsers I have mentioned above, but that's only because I prefer Internet Explorer. But if you think Internet Explorer is boring and you want a fancy new browser without losing any compatibility, then I recommend whole-heartedly that you use Neoplanet. If, however, you prefer the "Don't fix what aint broke" approach to your system, as do I, then there is no real reason to get Neoplanet at all. Overall, Nice Software... But a bit like a full body kit for a Morris Minor, It looks great but do you really need it?
