Whats the hype all about? (Netscape Navigator 6.0)

Advantages: Customized content, many features and app's bundled with it, nice clean interface

Disadvantages: Slow loading, not enough to impress long-time Netscape users

After reading about Netscape 6 and Netscape advertising it around the web I decided to download it. It was a hefty 1 hour download but I believe magazines ahve started publishing it on their CD Cover Discs.

My first look at Netscape 6 was impressive but I soon realised that it wasn't really any different from Netscape 4.7x. Their weren't that many new features and the Skin feature isn't exactly a new thing either. You've probably heard of a browser plug-in to MS Internet Explorer called NeoPlanet where their are thousands of skins available unlike Netscape which hasn't even reach the 100 mark yet.

I found Netscape 6 to be slow loading even on my Pentium 3 733MHz and 128MB SDRAM system.

Netscape programmers have gone for the simple, clean layout in the taskbars at the top. The 'My Sidebar' feature is quite impressive and I think this is what Netscape has tried to emphasize the most. It's got pretty much everything you need from Search, News Headlines, Whats Related, Shopping, Music, etc, etc. The list goes on and lifes too short to list them all.

Netscape Instant Messenger has been incorporated into Netscape 6 so in other words you can be using AOL Instant Messenger at the same time and be talking to two people at the same time or the same person with two s.n's.

As always Netscape sets-up your bookmarks with the best content of the web.

If your a first time user of the web then I suggest you go for this product because of it's friendly user interface (unlike Internet Explorer).
