Refreshing... But Good Enough? (Netscape Navigator 6.0)

Advantages: Looks great, Well laid out, Easy to use

Having been driven to distraction by Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, I decided, about a year ago, to download the first beta release of Netscape 6. I'd always thought Netscape 4 had looked tired and boring, but 6 didn't. The menu bars loooked really space age, the layout was good, the 'side bars' were a good idea too (basically the ability to view two pages in one window- now implemented in IE 6 as 'personal bars'- if I were Netscape I'd be pretty angry, but...)
I was amazed, I mean pages even looked good in Netscape, and I'm afraid I saw that as a bit of a first.

How could they not steal the lead with this product? Then I discovered it, 'Netscape has performed an Illegal error!'. Netscape 6 is about as unreliable as..... a very unreliable thing. Howveer, this is just a beta, I thought- they'll solve it!

They didn't.

In fact, they seem to have also made it slower as well!

I'm afraid it looks as if Microsoft own the net, as I've gone back to Internet Explorer. However, it can be useful to have both, because occasionally Netscape manages to load pages IE can't.

A good concept, ruined by poor execution.
