I was actually quite surprised to see that most people wrote the same about this program as I was going to. But unfortunately it’s the truth about this program. It doesn’t work, plain and simple. I try not to make my opinions too short, and I will try again with this one, but my experiences with it are quite limited, as I will never switch it on again. Everybody says it causes more crashes than it prevents. To be honest I can’t really argue with that point. I have never been one to have crash protection software on my computer, but it came with the Norton package so it installed itself onto my machine and "apparently" caught plenty ... On browsing other opinions in this category I wasn't surprised that other users of this product found dissatisfaction, but I never knew that that I'd not find a single positive review, atleast here. I used CrashGuard a long time ago, I think it was version 2 on my late first computer, and even though there's a significant difference of two versions I think I'm able to qualify enough to explain what I think of Crashguard, regardless of the version out. I'm a big fan of the Norton products ( see other reviews ) and would have no hesitation in recommending them to others. However, Crashguard I'm not so sure about. Far from intercepting crashes and recovering your data which is what it is supposed to do, it actually seems to encourage crashes. The basic idea of the product is when an application becomes unstable and is about to crash, Crashguard jumps in and intercepts the problem and then gives you a number of options of what you what to do together with a recommendation of what the program thinks you should do. This sounds great in theory but in practice what you end up doing is ... Read the complete review

I got Norton Crash Guard with the Utilities package. I don't like the program because instead of preventing crashes and blue screens, it actually creates them. Supose you got a crash an the Crash Guard program stoped it, all the icons in the system tray would still go away so thats not crash guearding is it. The program should reload all the icons in the system tray after the crash but it doesn't. Also the program slow down your computer. The programs is not worth the £20 it cost me so don't spend a penny on it. If you get frequent crashes then buy Norton Utilities to fix the problem instead of stoping the crash. ...
