This free little program is a useful little gem which converts your 3GP phone videos and helps transfer them to your PC...

When you first download it from the likes of www.download.com it comes in a zipped file, which is easily opened (right click and extract all... once extracted you simple move the 3GP/AVI symbol to where ever you want, saving the rest of the folder as you go)...

Once you are able to open the file you will constantly be asked if you want to run it... this will be enclosed in a warning page as the publisher signature is not recognised, but I wouldn't worry about that as it has never caused me any problems, neither have the other near 200.000 people who have downloaded it so far...


** FIRSTLY...WHAT IS 3GP..?

* 3GP is a multimedia container format (defined by the third generation partnership...{3GP} project)...and used on all 3G mobile phones.
It is a version of MPEG-4 (MP4) format in a container form, designed specifically to decrease storage space in order to hold more information on a mobile phone.

In other words... it is a space saving format so you can fit more video/audio footage onto the memory in your mobile phone...


** WHAT DOES THIS PROGRAM DO..?

Basically it converts your 3GP videos from your mobile phones and turns them into AVI or MPG formats so you can watch them on your PC or burn them onto a disc...


** HOW DOES IT WORK..?

Once you've unzipped the file and clicked on 'run' you will be presented with a page which will help you convert the files you chose...

1) Simply add the 3GP files to the list by clicking on the 'Add files' and then browsing through your PC... (you can add numerous files at once as the program will convert them all into the chosen format....

2) Once you have chosen all your files then you chose where you want to output them... either in the same directory or browse to your own personal choice...

3) There are setting for Audio levels/ resolution/cropping which you can use to adjust your 3GP video...or just simply leave everything in Auto as this does a good enough job...

4) Press the convert button and sit back... the converting process will begin ( what looks like the black command box appears with lots of complicated jargon, don't worry, this is normal and the progress bar at the bottom of it keeps you informed as to how far the conversion has gone) and the status column will tell keep you informed as to what is happening

That's it...job done... and you're ready to watch your mobile phone videos on your PC in AVI format, (or even ready to burn them onto DVD to keep them forever).


** IN CONCLUSION...

A good little program for those who want to transfer their mobile phone video footage onto a PC... and the best thing about this one is that it is completely free... cost nothing... no catches at all...no hassles to upgrade...no persistent sales people hammering your inbox with requests for your bank details... nothing...totally free (you get the message)

I came across this one whilst searching for a specific converter... and, after checking out the reviews of others who had used it, decided to give it a go as a lot of other converters wanted my hard earned cash to do exactly what this freebie does....
Once I downloaded and unzipped it I was pleasantly surprised as to how easy it was to actually use...

Since then I have used it countless times after ##Bluetoothing TM my footage from my mobile phone, (then editing and actually burning the footage onto DVD, using another program of course as this one doesn't have 'burning' capabilities)... and have found that this little gem is so simple to use that a blind arthritic monkey would have no troubles converting their 3GP files.
It is so user friendly, taking a matter of minutes to understand how it works... taking even less time to actually realise how to convert the 3GP files...(Although the time to convert a file depends on its actual size...)

In all, a great freebie which does exactly what it says on the tin... nothing more and nothing less... and I have given it top marks all round purely for doing exactly what it is meant to do with such ease and speed

Note: ##Bluetooth TM is a wireless 'protocol' for transmitting data from one device to another over short distances by use of radio waves, therefore dismissing the need for wires.
