I downloaded the Panicware ?Pop-Up Stopper? a couple of weeks ago after reading an overwhelmingly positive Dooyoo review, but I soon realised that in many cases it could be more annoying than helpful. Being the 10th person to review this software, there's probably not a lot else I can say, although I'll do it in my own little way anyway. As a heavy user of the internet, pop-ups are a real burden. I'm aware we could ditch Internet Explorer and use something pop-up-less, but let's face it, that'll cause it's own set of problems, and chose not to go down that route. A couple of months back, I was becoming utterly frustrated with those annoying little advertising popup windows that appear whist surfing the internet. I am sure that many members here on dooyoo will have suffered these same frustrations because at the time, the main culprit was this site. In my experience, for every opinion I read or rated and each time I checked the comments on my own reviews, the popup window advertising “freeserve” would appear. Most people have come to appreciate that in order for the internet to carry on thriving there needs to be some means by which site owners get paid for their time and dedication spent in bringing these sites to us. Affiliate schemes, banner advertising etc. are amongst those revenue generating schemes, which most of us can deal with because they aren't too intrusive upon our own browsing experience, but pop-up ads are a different thing entirely for many. ~ ~ When I conducted a search of the dooyoo and Ciao Categories to discover whether or not this utility was listed at the two sites, I was amazed to find that are only three opinions about it in total.
