I've been using Reason since its first incarnation. Steadily got to grips with all the synths, samplers and effects over the years. I make hip-hop instrumentals as a hobby (http://www.kiadabeats.com - if you're interested in hearing Reason produced music). Basically its the center of my music production. It wasnt easy to learn, but I acquired a Reason Tutorial DVD which helped me lots - now I'd consider myself fairly advanced with it. The new Thor synth in Reason 4 is a piece of mastery which - although hard to get to grips with - gives you ultimate flexibility with your synth sounds. If you're into sampling like I am, I'd recommend you invest in Recycle to ... Read the complete review

I notice by reading some rebirth reviews that I’m not the only one that has wasted many an hour twiddling around with rebirth, it has an instant appeal and anyone with a good idea for a tune can make it happen with little classic training. Not in any way wanting to put down the classic Roland threesome (TB-303, DR-808, DR-909), but the potential for sound creation leaves a lot to be desired, the most that can be get out of Rebirth is an acid lead, bassline, and a simple analogue drum line. Reason, the new big brother of rebirth, takes the idea of software synth recreation and takes it much further. Dropping the emulation of classic synths for ... Read the complete review

With the exponential growth of Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) in the electronic music industry, Propellerhead's fourth version of their world-famous Reason software is definitely worth taking a look at. Boasting several Giga Bytes of instruments, effects and synthesizers, Reason is one of the most frequently used Windows DAWs at the moment. Perhaps Reason is not the best software for entry-level musicians (as opposed to FL Studio), however, anyone with experience and knowledge in electronic music production should be able to use Reason with relative ease. Having used FL Studio before Reason, I have to say that the interface did take ... Read the complete review

There are plenty of reasons to buy 'Reason' from propellerhead software. It's simple to use It's powerful It's expandable It'll keep you from spending huge amounts of money on hardware that you probably don't need unless you've a professional recording studio! I saw adverts for 'Reason' in magazines and always thought that the hype sounded too good to be realistic. I then downloaded the trial version of Reason and gave it a go. Never before have I experienced the urge to go and spend cash as quickly as that! I bought the software within days of trying it. I have been playing hardware based music equipment for many years as ... Read the complete review

I won't beat about the bush in this review and I'll assume you know what REASON is and are considering buying it. I read a lot of reviews on REASON before deciding to spend £200 on it. I have to say my expectations were high, as I haven't yet read a bad review for this product. REASON is a Software Music Station. It includes all of your Sound Module needs in the form of 2 x Samplers (for those wanting to use pre-formed recorded sounds) and 2 x Sythesisers, capable of producing virtually any fat (or thin) synth sound you can imagine. As well as the sounds in REASON, you also get an extremely flexible Mixer, the full range of Studio Effect Processors, a main ... Read the complete review
