I won't beat about the bush in this review and I'll assume you know what REASON is and are considering buying it. I read a lot of reviews on REASON before deciding to spend £200 on it. I have to say my expectations were high, as I haven't yet read a bad review for this product. REASON is a Software Music Station. It includes all of your Sound Module needs in the form of 2 x Samplers (for those wanting to use pre-formed recorded sounds) and 2 x Sythesisers, capable of producing virtually any fat (or thin) synth sound you can imagine. As well as the sounds in REASON, you also get an extremely flexible Mixer, the full range of Studio Effect Processors, a main Sequencer, a pattern sequencer, Routing devices and a Drum Machine. I have to say, there isn't really anything missing that you'd find in serious studio, except of course a selection of real guitars!

Music is made using the Samplers or synths and is tied together using the Sequencer. The Mixer brings your sounds together and also allows use of the Effects Processors. The first point to note is that the sound quality of REASON is absolutely stunning. All samples are clear and rich, and although recorded dry, add a little reverb or delay to each one and they come to life! Making music is very quick to pick up - I had a Drum Track and Bassline within an hour of opening te box. I had produced my first song within 2 days and as a first effort, it was better than I thought I could EVER make using this package!

REASON is quite simply the BEST THING I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. It has transformed my music making and I will be using it for years to come. After buying Reason I have sold my Korg Triton LE, and ALL of my Hardware processors. The Delay unit alone within REASON sounds better than most £500+ units. The Reverbs aren't the best ever but are better than my £200+ units. If you have a PC with a Sound Card (contrary to some opinion it doesn't need to be the best arou
nd) and you like making music you NEED to buy this. It is quite simply out of this world!
