Say hello to Rebirth and say goodbye to your social life if you're into any sort of dance music at all . Rebirth-338 is now on it's second version . It's a program that simulates some old Roland hardware - namely the 303 ( an easy to operate analogue synth ) and a 308 ( drum machine ) . With rebirth 2.0 comes an extra 309 to play with which provides you with a good set of percussive sounds to use although you will find yourself falling back to the trusty 303 and 308 . Rebirth is different from most music programs in that it takes a real approach to the way that sound is produced . The program simulates analogue waves and determines changes ... ReBirth was a fantastic piece of saftware when it appeared, and has remained so for a long long time - at least what passes for a long long time in the world of software. It is a virtual emulation of several pieces of Roland hardware - the 808 and 909 drum machines, and the famouus TB303 bass synth, of which you get two. Version two also includes a pulse related filter, which can vastly change the sound of one of the modules, and all the modules can now be sent to the distortion at once. The Rewire facility also allows it to be synchronized with Cubase, so that you can add other parts. First let me say that this still is a great piece of ... Read the complete review

ReBirth is an software simulation of three pieces of classic Roland audio gear: two TB303 bassline synths (discontinued in hardware in 1984), the TR808 drum machine and the TR909 drum machine. The first version of ReBirth had no 909, but was slagged off in the music press for this due to the much greater success of the 909 over the 808 when they were used in hardware first time around. Newer versions have the 909, a Pattern Controlled Filter (giving cool bandpass and lowpass filtering), ReWire support, and better synth emulation. ReBirth was one of the first PC audio programs I used and is pretty much ideal for the beginner in dance music production on ... Read the complete review

*This opinion is a complete rewrite, and has been rewritten so to eradicate any former innaccuracies and to keep it's longevity up to date for as long as I can* Sweden's Propellerhead software are simply an amazing music software company. Pretty much all that they've released has earned the company a lot of money, and a lot of respect and backing. Even Trent Reznor from electronic artists Nine Inch Nails has been rumoured to use their products lately. Propellerhead software don't care about hardware (much) and so all their software is primarily for use in making music with little other investment (due to the core technology being in ... You cant beat Rebirth 338 by the propeller heads. If you like the early 902 style of dance/acid/techno music with twiddly noises then you will love this!!! I love that ear and the music so this was a godsend when it came out. I had the non saveable demo for months before acquiring an original copy. Reason being? I could not track a copy down when It first came out. Its now available in PC World though. What is it? Well its a collection of 3 music making machines and converted into a software format. They are all linked together so you can make tunes on them in little patterns that you then place into a sequence to form a song. What machines are they? ... Read the complete review
