Advantages: Dancing Sheep, Cheap, Easy to Use
Disadvantages: Sometimes goes mad, it must be downloaded
Dear Reader, It is said by many a record company that the ‘Digital Music Revolution’ is simply a way for cheapskates to get their villainous paws on music for free. As an upstanding citizen I naturally believed them until I came across this program (I think that a trial version came free with a keyboard or something…) You see, with a program like this on your laptop you can take your entire CD collection with you everywhere you go – and even if your computer isn’t mobile, you still avoid the need to have to go and find discs from all around the house. Better still, you can mix up your CD tracks to create your own compilations to listen to whilst working, surfing the net, or whatever… Being computer literate types, however, you all probably knew this, and what you want to know is how Real Juke Box differs from other programs on the market. I have used real jukebox to play my ever-increasing collection of (totally legal) mp3's for over a year now. And let me assure you - it's the best package out there. Now as a rule I’m not fond of Real networks’ products – they have a nasty habit of infesting your computer with ‘extras’ and sadly Real Juke Box is no exception – you will find your start menu mysteriously filled with products you’d swear you never bought – but they don’t seem to do any harm, to be fair. Anyhow, the major advantage that Real Juke Box has over it’s (usually free-of-charge) competitors is ease of use – it presents a customisable list of track details in a nice big window, and these can be sorted in any imaginable way – you can also create custom play lists, or have the program do it for you according to genre or artist. The other major advantage of Real Juke Box is a feature called ‘Get CD Data’, which will automatically type in the track details for any CD you choose to record, ass
uming, that is, you can get on line. You also get 'visualisations', which are graphics that move in time to the beat of the music, and can be displayed full screen when you’re using the computer purely for musical purposes. These include a dancing sheep, which is way cool, and several more grown up ‘space age’ type animations. For the $20 or so this package costs to download, you will agree that it represents fantastic value for money, even if it does crash now and then. Thanks for reading

- 12/05/02 Just a little advice as well...if you submit loads of reviews all at once(like you are doing) it will actually result in LESS reads from members here as opposed to more. By doing that you just annoy users who will make a point of avoiding your reviews! If you want more reads(therefore more money) you have to be prepared to read/rate/comment around the site yourself as opposed to submitting hundreds of reviews. |
