Scour Exchange (SX)

Not just Mp3's, but movies, pictures, and everything else that you can run on or thru a computer is available on Scour. The principle of Scour is identical to Napster but just supports the different formats out on the net. This is really useful for movies, songs with their video's in avi or real format etc.. movies are also on scour that are not even out in the cinema yet here! Napster is almost universally known now as the best way of getting free (and usually illegal!) music on the web. There are alternatives however, one of which is Scour Exchange. Scour Exchange can be downloaded from the Scour website and runs exactly as Napster does. The main thing that sets Scour apart from Napster is the facility to search for other forms of media, so you can search for images or video as well as music formats. The client program works in much the same way as Napster, allowing you to log on to a remote server and see what other Scour users have available to share. After reading a few articals on the Napster area I decided to give Scour exchange a try. It has a very similar interface to Napster but one of the main problems I faced was using it with a firewall. I use BlackIce Defender and whilst I was using scour it allowed several very serious attacks on my system. Luckily, BlackIce caught the problems, the files being leeched were not MP3 or MPG they were DOC and TXT files! Before I use this service again I would look for reasurance - by scouring dooyoo - if anyone else had problems. I was recently informed of Scour Exchange by a friend and since I have hardly been away! It is an ingenious way of linking the whole world to allow them to watch the same TV shows, listen to the same music and view the same films. This is very welcome to all English viewers of TV shows such as the Simpsons who would otherwise have to wait months to see new episodes, and more importantly it's free.
