I got my hands on SNES9x over 3 years ago and played a year or so out of it, still do off and on. The interface is easy to use in that you can load your game ROM easily from the file menu and get up and running in no time at all with little or no experience needed. (ROMs can be obtained online but must be deleted unless you have the original cartridge). To control games you are able to use more than one method, 1 use the keyboard but this can become tricky when you have 6 buttons the d-pad and start and select to assign and remember, or 2 use a game pad, I invested in a logic 3 game pad which looked exactly like the model they produced for the SNES, ... (...............Final Fantasy 6, that is!) If anyone read my opinion yesterday you may have noticed it said I was busy, so you may wonder why I write another opinion a single day later (well, no ones going to wonder anyway, but I'm going to tell you why!). After coming back from lectures I went to my girlfriends room to get my key for my room (don't ask why she had it!) and walked back up to my room with my bag, but on the way stopped at a friends to see what he was up to. Seeing his guitar propped up neatly in the corner I immediately dropped everything to pick it up and practice the beginning of Nirvana's 'Teen Spirit' which I am desperate ... The SNES was a classic console. I do not care what level of performance, power and graphics new consoles and PC’s reach, I rate the SNES as the machine whose games I most enjoyed playing. The fact that the average person with Web access can now play a huge pile of these classic games free is incredible. Emulators are downloaded from sites like cnet.com as freeware. To play the games, one must find sites with a stock of titles. I found there is a web ring of providers of the games, which are downloaded as .SMC extension files. There are SRC files (I think), which seem to play fine, but are meant for another emulator? Not sure. However, each time I ... Read the complete review

I am a keen player of classic games on most formats for console and arcade systems. Snes9x has to be one of the first Snes emulators to be made for the Snes console and is one of the best. It's only rival is ZSnes which is in my opinion a better emulator, but there isn't much between them. Although I didn't orginally own a Snes console, the graphics are excellent and the gameplay on most of the games are top class. The emulator is easy to use and there is Joystick compatibility which allows multiplayer options for some games. Which are a god sent as you don't experience the real gaming experience on the keyboard and it is often a lot ... Read the complete review

The Super Nintendo may not boast excellent graphics or sound or any state-of-the-art technology, but it's games are the best that there are! i found that although newer consoles boast great graphics and built in dvd playing capabilities, their games prove less addictive, for example, super mario world for the SNES's style proved a lot more addictive than the nintendo 64' 3-d version. Now that these games are available on-line,at such ease, i have discovered many addictive games such as Earthbound and bustamove, and also re-played familiar ones such as legend of Zelda, and super mario allstars, all of which I find MUCH better than n64 and ...
