Sonic Foundry ACID Music 2.0

Newest Review: ... enthusiasts. With the availability of additional loops growing, ACID Music offers users an opportunity to translate music ... more

... from the sounds in their head to real music, and it is the ease in which this can be done that has caused the success of this program. Whilst the standard loops provided do not offer the user a lot to work with, the range of free loops available over the Internet allows massive expansion of this program. I would recommend this program to most users as an interesting and amusing method of creating and editing songs, but if your looking for professional audio editing and creating solutions, I would consider a more ext...more

A music program, and it's called Acid?...No, it's nothing to do with raves and all that, but it can be if you want it to! Basically, Sonic Foundry's Acid is a digital audio loop sequencer for people who are a bit put off with painful sample truncating, manipulating and editing etc...Or just lazy folks. What I mean in simple terms is that Acid is a multi-track piece of software (although one sample per track, but unlimited tracks are available in the Pro version, other versions have limits) that allows the user to effectively paint a track. The paint being the samples (you can use many sound format types such as .wav), and the canvas being the sequencer, ...  Read the complete review

I have over the years been involved in various music making projects, bands in the early 90's and then sampling based outfits and electronica in the recent past. I was opposed to using computers in the composition or arrangement of music but I recently started to use a piece of software called ACID. This software allows the user to program and edit musical pieces using wave files which come in the package or off the internet. I am now using this software to record live musicians into the PC and then edit their work to fit tempos and arrangements. On top of thsi I can download waves from the internet and chop them into variations all with the mouse. Although ...  Read the complete review

Acid music pro is the best sample sequencer you can buy for a windows PC, bar none... it's time/pitch stretching abilities and ease-of-use are legendary, but unfortunately, it's got a price tag to match. So when Sonic Foundry announced a slightly cut-down version at a quarter of the price, I was straight to the front of the queue! When you compare Acid music PRO and Acid music 2.0 on paper, the cheaper option comes out very well. Basically, you don't get midi clock synch, there isn't a sample editor included, you're restricted to 16bit samples, and can only use 1 direct-x effect. Nothing too desperate, you might think... However, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review So Acidic! (107 words)

As a very keen computer user and more to the point, music lover. I find that it is definately no more a niche market on the subject of personal music creation and other similar lines. I purchased Sonic Foundry Acid Music mainly because it was on special offer and partly because I had it in mind as a totally reliable, complex and tactical piece of music software. The instructions and tutorials which are enveloped in the program can prove very handy for the beginner and all those budding musicians alike. I would strongly reccommend a friend to purchase this music creation package. ...  Read the complete review

Although the name Pro is in the title you do not have to be a Pro to use it. If you drop a sample into the DJ feature it will match the beat for the rest of the song i.e. it does all the work for you. There are plenty of effects that can be used (a full CD actually)and you can change the pitch as and when you want to. Another extra is that you can add tunes frame by frame to videos. Although Acid Pro is expensive it makes proffesional jobs look easy - see you on Top of the Pops next week! ...  Read the complete review

User-friendly interface, Tracks finances in detail Slows down if there's a lot of data in the programme

Attractive, small, skinnable, host of communications features, user-friendly, interoperable with other popular IM's Has a (small) adbox/browser on display, a bit tricky to get to grips with straight away, has some bugs (it is a beta)

The days of paying £15 a CD are now over, really huge collection of MP3's, a must have for anyone with a computer Doesn't seem to be going down well with bands and record companies and its future looks uncertain
