Advantages: Good editing, good effects, doesn't crash...ever!

Disadvantages: Advanced functions can confuse

I've been using sound forge for a while now on a really really duff old PC. It works great though.

Its great if you use a budget sampler such as the SU200, that is great, but does have the draw back of limited editing and effects. With Sound Forge you can trim the sample down to the right size, clean up the sound quality and then add appropriate effects.

The loop function is superb, allowing extremely tight editing. The sound stretch and pitch shift are also fantastic for my needs.

Finally, I would say its the first time i've used such a piece of software and its given me no problems. Basically, a pleasure to work with, especially in conjunction with Cakewalk.

I got soundforge free with my soundcard. Never really got on with it, prefer Cool Edit personally :)
